Hello,
I've got a nice stable system on a Mac G5, OS 10.5.8, PT 8.0.1 and a Digi 002
It gets overloaded when too much is asked of it, but hey, it's 7 years old!

So, I'm going to buy a new Intel Mac soon and I considered moving to PT 9 since that's the latest and greatest thing, right?

The upgrade path is what I'm wondering about. I started with PT 6.7 and made download upgrades up through 8.0.1

When I get my new computer, will I need to install my PT 6 discs, then use all the saved .dmg files to upgrade up to 8.0.1 THEN purchase the 9 crossgrade? I've got my original iLok and have included my license list below.
:confused::eek:

I know I'll have to install all my plug-ins on the new machine, but what about the BombFactory ones and my Complete Production Toolkit?

Also any comments on processor choice on the new Mac Pro's is appreciated.
:D
Thanks for looking this over!
:-)

You will not need any of the previous versions if you download the PT9 full installer which you will get with the cross grade. In fact it is better that you don't. Just do a clean install of PT9 and get the latest installers for all your plug ins. As for the Mac pros, get the fastest processor you can afford.

Thanks HD2!
I didn't realize that 9 crossgrade came with a full installer.

As far as the tower goes, would you go faster speed over more cores? In other words a Quad-core 2.8 or a 12-core 2.6?

Likely a dumb question, but you have some experience . . . . .

If you purchase online the will be a full installer and upgrade installer in your account. The full is larger and takes longer to download but a better way to go.
The quad core 2.8 would be enough unless you plan on running a lot of other apps at the same time.
