I just bought a UAD-2 for use in ProTools 9. So far I haven't had any problems

I thought i had read there was a way to freeze a track with a UAD plug-in (apply a UAD effect to a region, creating a new file, which would free up processing power, similar to how audio suite works).

i can't find any info on this in the UAD manual, the website or forums?

how do you do this? i am on a mac btw.

thanks in advance.

what you are referring to is called "audiosuite". unfortunately, there are no audiosuite versions of the UA plugins. at this moment anyway.

if you want to freeze a track, you will have to bus it to new track, record it, then make the old one "inactive".

Sorry - no freeze track in Pro Tools. You can manually print to an audio track. Then with the original track, to save cpu cycles, hide and make inactive.

^^^gotta be quick around here^^^

Freeze track is a Logic term. It records the effects to the track like Audiosuite in Protools, but also makes the plugins inactive but retains all the settings so if you want to change anything you just unfreeze the track. This does not exist in Protools. Maybe someday soon.
