Anyone using a PCIe USB card on a Mac Pro to add USB ports? Any reason this wouldn't work? I did some searches and didn't find anything about these on the Avid site, one way or another. I certainly don't want to "unqualify" my Mac Pro by doing this, but I'm running out of usb ports!

Here is the one I'm looking at:

thanks all

I should clarify what it's use would be for - adding an extra keyboard and mouse, additional midi keyboards that use USB to connect, iLoks, and for a backup drive (storage only).

I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to use USB drives with PT :-)

It should work fine. YMMV

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to use a powered usb hub?

I already have one of those, and the problem is that sometimes when you restart the computer, some of the devices (sometimes the 2nd keyboard and mouse, sometimes one of the midi keyboards) come up not working as if they were disconnected , no lights even come on. I'm guessing that's due to not enough buss power coming from the hub. I thought adding the PCIe card might fix this.

Oh, I see. That makes sense.
