How do I generate a tempo map for a song that has tempo changes?

I've been trying with Beat Detective and had problems then came across this in the manual regarding the Beat Detective selection:

"the selection should not contain any meter or tempo changes".

This song was imported in PT from a 2 inch master. There is an audio click that follows the tempo changes.

Thanks,
Steve

If you've got a click track printed this is easy, just use the "identify beat" command to define the bar/beat placement of the click. Put your cursor on the printed click track and use the "tab to transients" to speed yourself along.

I've done this to add a tempo map to sessions without a click, following a printed click should be a breeze.

Thanks, that did the trick. A bit tedious and it seems like there should be an easier way but the job is done.

If the material wasn't tracked to a click, I will still make a tempo map before mixing. I use beat detective to generate it, going through the song about 4 to 8 bars at a time. Pretty much the same method described on page 554 of the PT8 reference guide.
