Is there a way to have 'select' act like a switch instead of latch?

I just switched from a Mackie control and the MC the select knob was a 'switching type' where if I select a channel with the previous selected channel becomes deselected, this is the same way as selecting a channel on the screen with the mouse. On the Command 8 it just adds, like holding the cmd key while selecting with the mouse on the screen.
Is there maybe a preference where I can change this as I really prefer the switching method.
