And it's damn near 11yrs. old! I bought one and put it beside my command 8... and it was a shame!
So, I hooked it up and started to use it...works perfectly fine....hell you can even use 2 of them side by side. Hell its got all the features I need right on the damn control surface..... Plus a jog wheel...and meter bridge.. and talk back mic

Now if digi stops supporting hui.... ok I am screwed.... but not really cause I can control most other third party daws anyways..... which you can forget about that when it comes to the C8.

Anything else I am missing....moving from C8 to a Mackie Hui.

HUI has a god-awful analog section
they do breakdown and can be hard to get fixed
but it is a better than the C8for the Jog/Shuttle wheel alone

Don't use the analog section other than running the output of the talkback mic into my 002.
You can get them completely serviced and cleaned for 250.00
Is there a setting in PT software for the Jogwheel, cause I can't get it to work unless you hit the scrub button or the shuttle button....they both playback the audio while in use, instead of just scrolling to a spot quickly.

I also find that I mix better......I think its because I am not looking at where the numbers are on volumes,pans,sends,eq's....etc... the hui does not show these as the command8 does..

Its has more of a console feel, than the command 8 does. I def. can understand how someone who has been used to mixing on a console would hate mousing around, and turning knobs with no feeling.

Obviously, you never really learned the C8, 'cause it blows away HUI control on any device. editing plugins in 'flip' mode on a C8 is excellent. I just sold my Euphonix MC Mix (regretting that I had ever sold my C8) and picked up a Pro Control. Digi makes it so that their controllers are just way advantaged running Pro Tools.

Obviously u neva really learned or had HUI.... I myself have a Mackie D8B which I have been using very successfully "also editing plugins etc."...

So don't take my opening line seriously, but just making a point that it does the same if not just as much...

Obviously u never used a HUI... It has twice as many functions than the C8 ... on board DEDICATED BUTTONS....

Digi/Mackie built this for protools...

Seriously, you don't have to touch your mouse for anything.....

hee hee.. this is funny and thanks for keeping the tone civil.

I did have a HUI back in '99 and at that time I was mixing on analog consoles so much of the time, that I didn't know what the big deal was to pick up the mouse, so I sold it in a few months time. Guess, next time I'm around a HUI, I'll explore it more than I did then. It's all about learning the device.

Well as soon as the fat checks start coming in, it's a D-Command for me...
