First of all, thanks to anyone that can answer my questions...

I've started working with a Veneu system at a few weeks and only last tuesday started working with the new version 2.70...
We buy everything for 2 weeks... We started working with the 2.0 version...

At the very begining everything worked nice until I've started using the second stage rack...

(96 chanels on stage + 24 outs + with redundunt cables + 16 ins/outs on FOH + Main console + Sidecar + 3 mix engines)

When i trie to insert a grafic eq on main a very loud output happened...
Peak level on the PA! I've scared about 600 people!!
(So i've muted all the outputs and tried to do the same but got the same results...)
Conclusion... I can't have any grafic eq in any output...

Then, i've tried to use a parametric eq plugin... And got the same results... I've just configured the plugin, inserted in main, and a very loud output happened again... Like a BUS CLIP (with master down we can se the red leds on peakmeter..)

We are using the FX chanels to Cd players, Multy-track system, etc...

3 Mix Engines
Both Stage racks plugeds and active
96Ch + 8 Fx Ch + 16 Grafics Eq

Can anyone help to solve this? Just want to understand why it happend... No rush need... I'm using an old SPX and Analog Eqs to solve this... :D
(We are running a Timecode show everyday....)

You shouldn't be in Config mode while there is more than you and musicians rehearsing in the building. You should never be in config mode when there are 600 people in the building unless they are all people from this forum and you are showing them why you shouldn't be in config mode with 600 people in the building. What it sounds like you I dont know why but im sure Sheldon can give us the technical reason for this. Now if it continues to make a loud noise than you might have a problem but it should pop once and then your insert should be working. Why were you trying to insert a graphic during a show?

We work at a Casino... Open doors for 12 hours...

The PA was "changed" and we needed to correct a small issue...

That's why we entered in Config Mode to insert the grafic eq...

But that's not important... The really important thing is that a constant Clip Level ocurred when doing that and i'm prety shure that it shouldn't happened... It keeps cliping until we deactivate the plug-in or the graffic eq...

Also... Dont need "Config Mode" to insert a grafic eq in mains...

So its not a pop its constant noise?
And all you are doing is going to the graphic EQ section and selecting a EQ from the drop down menu?

RCaldeira,

Is this a consistent problem? Every time you insert a GEQ or plug-in on the Mains you get clipping? Here are a few suggestions.

- Run the digitest to check the health of your Mix Engine DSP cards. In Config mode, go to Options>System and click the "Run Digitest" option.

- 2.0.2 is the last update for D-Show 2.0. You can download the update (for updating via USB flash drive) here:
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=3&downloadid=29542&eid=274&categoryid=36

- Try changing your show configuration to see if the problem changes or goes away. In Options>System, temporarily assign less input channels, less GEQs etc.. Another idea is to use the "clear console" function to see if the problem still happens when the desk is essentially blank.

Let us know, and if you can't make any progress please call support.

Thanks for the reply and sorry my delay... Day off!

I've run the diagnostics...

Results:

0-LS Engine - none
1-LS Engine

TDM-II Flex Cable Test (Bus B) DSP I Failed - Expected 11EE11h, Actual 11AE11h

2-LS Engine

TDM-II Flex Cable Test (Bus B) DSP A Failed - Expected 11EE11h, Actual 11AE11h

3-LS Engine - none

I've cleared the console and started the desk...

96ch, 16 GEQ, 16 FX returns, 4 Mix Engines

I've tried to use one GEQ and got a very high level again...
Tried to use plugins and got the same results...

Then i've started to remove things from the desk... ;)

With 96ch, 16 GEQ and only 8 Fx I could use GEQ but not plugins...

Then i've disabled the second stage rack and got everything working!!!
Even tried to use only 64 chanels... And it worked!

64ch, 16 GEQ, 16Fx, 4 mix engines worked fine... (didn't test anything more.. Only GEQ and Plugins)

Our support company installed the 4º mix engine (and last) yesterday... And they know the hardware error and swap every mix engine and cables to any position to see if it was a mix engine or cable... It had the same error on the diagnostics... Always the 2 and 3º DSP card got that error...
(this tests i've made after they went, after we close, so our support company don't even know that...)

So... Whats up?

What we need to do to solve this?

Thanks! (and sorry my bad english)

RCaldeira,

Hi, this is Mike from Digidesign again. I had to get a new login.

According to the test, the 2nd and 3rd cards are failing (Digitest numbers the cards starting from zero). So step one should be to remove those cards from the system and then run Digitest again to see if it passes or fails. Remember that the "first" card is the innermost card (the card furthest from you), so be sure to remove the 2nd and 3rd innermost cards. If you've lost track of which card is which since the support company adjusted them, run Digitest again and go to the "slot info" tab to reveal the serial numbers.

If results seem inconsistent, start with just one card installed and run Digitest. Then add a card and run Digitest and repeat until you have isolated the problem.
