I know this isn't the appropriate forum, but since it appears that most of us posting here run sound in a house of worship---I thought this might be an appropriate place to share this and others here might appreciate it even further.
Yesterday, the scariest event in my life happened----and even now, it’s too surreal that I wonder if it really happened, and I’m reminded it did. About 1pm I was up-stairs cleaning, getting the second bedroom ready for Devin to move into (my old studio). Alison (my fiancee) was out shopping with Michael (the youngest), but I heard the door open and looked downstairs, there was Michael coming in. I headed downstairs to help with groceries and then went back up-stairs. Then I heard Michael come running up the stairs with some new Moonsand, and then I didn’t hear him anymore. Instead, I heard Alison screaming unlike anything I have ever heard before----I stepped out to the stairs to see what was wrong, that’s when I noticed the window in the loft had the screen missing. Michael must have been running and slipped, then went through the window and fell two stories straight down onto the stone patio below. I came running down the stairs and there she was picking him up running towards the door telling me to get the keys for the car.....I told her to put him on the couch and hold him still then called 911. It took about 10-minutes for the paramedics to show up, but it felt more like hours. He was screaming and crying at the top of his lungs.....so we knew at that point he was at least alive, but knew that after what just happened----it would be a miracle if he didn’t shatter his spine or smash in his head. Well, a miracle it was..... because Michael is back home in bed tonight with nothing more than a few band-aids on the scrape on his left knee and a few scratches on his back. There was every reason to believe he could have been left with brain-damage, a paralyzed back or at least several broken bones.....but he has two band-aids and he’s fine, he’s just fine. God was watching over that boy tonight and I swear, he sent an Angel down from Heaven to land below him--because there is NO other reason he is alive with NO major injuries right now.
Both Alison and I have been crying through-out the night.....some of those tears are because he’s okay, other tears because we thought we almost lost him tonight. It’s still surreal that what happened, but it happened..... Tonight, he was playing in his bed instead of going to sleep, just like last night. But unlike last night, suddenly that is just fine to me---because he’s in his bed playing. And considering the alternatives, we are SO thankful for that. We witnessed a true miracle tonight......an aboslute miracle!
