Hi all, here's a question:

Can I use an MBox 1 and an Mbox 2 simultaneously (Laptop PC USB) and have more recording inputs at the same time?

or

Could I use a PRE AMP with an SPDIF digital out, such as the:

"PreSonus Digitube - Single Channel Microphone Tube Preamplifier"

http://www.shreveaudio.com/presonuspreamps2.html

and plug the PreSonus in to the SPDIF input on the Mbox and thus record 3 sources at the same time?

Thus would I be able to record:

1) A vocal with a Mic
2) An acoustic guitar with a Mic
3) A line from an acoustic guitar via the SPDIF using the PreSonus

all at the same time?

Can one use the analoge inputs and the Spdif at the same time?

Some thoughts.............apart from "You could always buy an Mbox Pro (Firewire)" - which I'm well aware of, would be cool.

any comments would be appreciated

No, you can't use 2 Mboxes at the same time on the same computer.

Yes, you can record 4 sources simultaneously with an Mbox 2, given that you have a S/PDIF preamp.

I haven't actually got an external A/D converter or Preamp with a Digital out but I've noticed that there is a "Samson C-Valve" available for just under 70 quid -

But I'd still like some reassurance that it is possible to record through:

Input 1

Input 2

S/PDIF

all at the same time and thus be able to record THREE channels simultaneously by using a separate Preamp with a Digital out.

Thanks to the last poster, but I didn't understand how you can record 4 channels simultaneously unless perhaps you have a Preamp with a Digital out that has two inputs that can be panned?

Anyone who has recorded three "Analogue" tracks simultaneously with an Mbox2 please let me know.

It would be great if it's possible to add another "Analogue" input via the S/PDIF for 70 quid.

Cheers All

S/PDIF is a stereo format, so yes, you can get a 2-channel preamp that outputs over S/PDIF (one channel over L, one channel over R) and hook that up for a total of 4 simultaneous inputs to your Mbox.

(2-channel S/PDIF preamps are probably more common than single channel ones, but obviously more expensive than 70 quid too...)
