active VS passive PA main speakers

Im putting a live sound rig together and Im caught in a battle of active or passive mains. Anyone know about active mains live, experience please.Ive been out of it for a while,THANKS.

Roy I would suggest you go to http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/f/5/95/. It's the Prosound Web you can do a search on passive versus active speakers. There is a lot of useful information.
