I tried to search the past dialogues in this forum but I couldn't turn up the answer to this.

I would like to use my ibook with Mbox and protools as a mixer for a live show. In other words, do I have the capability of playing through the Mbox and Ibook and sending it to a pair of sizable speakers and achieving a decent volume/sound for a live show?

I tried to send the sound through Mbox/protools/ibook, connecting them to a big pair of JBL speakers but I just heard a faint whisper come out of the speakers.

Is there a way to do this with the hardware and software I already have? DO I need a different program? Is there another hardware device that I'm needing (without going to crazy over budget)?

Ibook G4 (12 ")
Processor - 1.2 GHz
256 Megs of Ram (although soon to be replaced by 1 gig)
OS X 10.3.9
Protools 6.9
Mbox 1
2 Humongous JBL Speakers

Uh, try sticking a power amp in between the Mbox 1 and the 2 Humongous JBL Speakers.

Is there no way to use protools or some other computer program to serve that function?

No you need power to drive speakers.
You need a Power Amp.
Go to your local Pawn Shop and get one if your short on cash.
