This is driving me mad, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Mac G5 Dual 1.8Ghz with 512mb ram.

When trying to use the BFD Lite drum module plug in in Pro tools LE it kills my cpu.

Whatever I do to try and help it fails.

Is it just my cpu not handling it or is it the ram? I am thinking to upgrade to over a gig of ram. Would this solve it?

Please help me!!! Let me know if you've had this problem!

It's a RAM thing. When I first loaded BFD lite my graphics went south just loading BFD. I restarted the comp and the session and was able to stay within the 512megs I had and it worked OK. I have since added another 512 megs. The RAM required for the BFD full version is 1024 minimum, if I remember right.

Why skimp on RAM? 512 in a G5 is nothing. I use 6 Gigs to run BFD + XFL with Pro Tools LE.

BTW, you should run BFD as a Rewire instead of as an RTAS plugin; it'll drag your system a lot less.

The BFD box says: Required 512 MB RAM (preferably 768 or more)

BFD XFL and BFD 8 Bit Kit boxes say:
Required: 768MB of RAM (preferably 1024 or more)

512 is rock bottom for ProTools itself, let alone a RAM crusher like BFD.

I have BFD, XFL, and 8 Bit Kit. I have 2 1/2 Gigs RAM, and have BFD and it's add ons on a dedicated 120 G internal HD.

Cheers for your help.

I have since put in more ram (over 1.5 gig now) and am getting 200 gig internal hard drive to solve this problem.

Hopefully this will do the trick. Still get the feeling I might need more ram though
