I know when you record audio you can use the "strip silence" tool to remove some of the dead spots this will then create separate regions for the audio, however is there a way to shift these regions so they are all 1 sec appart for example? or do you have to shift each region manually? I really want to tighen up the audio but still have some space between takes.

Hmm...good question. I was thinking that maybe a workaround would be to quantize or use Beat Detective to achieve what you are trying to do.

Just throwing some ideas out there so that we might come up with a quick solution.

I tried beat detective, but after selecting the regions and trying to shift them nothing happened.. so not sure if that's what it's for..

You have to set the quantize value. It's called 'region conform' in BT. (I dont know why they decidied to try and change the common language. Just confuses people.)
