Hello folks,

I am transferring archive stuff from analogue tape to pro-tools.

I wish to dub from 24 track 2 inch analogue to a Dig 001 pro-tool system. With only 8 inputs to dig001 I'll have to do three passes when dubbing therefore I'll have to sync the pro-tools to the 2-inch's timecode. Luckily there is timecode on the tapes. What would be the most efficient way of doing this procedure? What kit would I need to blag/hire/buy?

Cheers,
Ronan.

You would want to resolve the 24 track to video black burst using a TimeLine Lynx synchronizer.. and use a MOTU Digital Time Piece to resolve Pro Tools' clock to the same video reference.. by feeding LE an S/PDIF clock from the DTP. Since the transfers will not be sample accurate, don't transfer stereo tracks in separate passes. If the drums are across more than 8 tracks, then get more Inputs.. or rent a TDM system with a Synch I/O.
