The Oxford chipset is a must. The drive must be 7200rpm and the higher the cache, the better. There are cases available from newegg.com that fit the bill and you just load in standard IDE drives. I was at Best Buy yesterday and they had 80gig WD drives for $29.99 after rebates.

I'm looking to buy an external drive but I need something that's portable since I want to use it with my laptop and have to carry it around. I would appreciate any suggestions on models that any of you guys are using.

Thanks a lot.
